About

I treat every student as a unique individual. This means I meet my students where they are and cater to their individual learning style.

I worked at a math tutoring organization for 9 years before going independent. There, I specialized in working with students who were very far behind, students with behavioral issues, and students who were very far ahead. I take those skills with me into my private tutoring.

I really enjoy watching students grow in their powers of comprehension, which inevitably results in growth in confidence.

Teaching new students opens up fresh ways of approaching subjects for me as well. Continuing my own learning is one of my favorite things to do, and I try to share that joy with my students.

As far as specific subjects go, I really enjoy teaching geometric proofs.

Casey tutored me in Geometry and was super knowledgeable about the material. He always took the time to break questions down for me and was very patient even when it took me a while to understand concepts. He was always friendly, calm, and energetic. Casey really helped me improve my grade in this class and I loved having him as a tutor!

Frequently asked questions

I start with a series of answerable questions to establish a solid base of knowledge between us to build on. I want to make sure my student and I are on the same page from the start.

From there I try to ask student the questions that they would need to ask themselves in order to solve the problem at hand.  My goal is for my students to eventually start asking themselves the right questions, so they can grow their critical thinking, math independence, and not rely on me. I always try and let my students do as much of the work as possible.

I worked at a math tutoring center for 9 years, and I've independently tutored for 3.

I charge a base rate of $40 an hour for math tutoring. If you're interested in home schooling or long sessions I can offer a discounted rate.

In my 12 years of experience I believe I’ve worked with nearly the full range of students. I have experience working with children with learning disabilities, young children, people in retirment, children who are first in their class, children with behavioral issues, children who speak english as a second language, people studying for the ASFAP, etc.
