About
I stand out to customers by delivering efficient and effective math and science tutoring to students at all levels. I have worked with a variety of student learning challenges, some examples ranging from adapting to being an honors students at the college level to learning middle school math while struggling with mental health issues and learning disabilities.
I love to teach and to mentor. I've spent my free time doing the same teaching and mentoring type activities such as volunteering to teach and mentor a middle school group of boys, volunteering to coach basketball teams in public leagues, and earning an elected position in my social organization on campus as the Vice President off Membership Development.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For an initial meeting, I generally meet with the student to review their struggles, determine what has been covered and where the class is, and develop a strategy and timeline to catch up. If the students are young, parents generally attend and assist with the initial meeting, but are not required to participate in the following tutoring sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have experience as a Tutor for the Chancellor's Honors Program for a year and a half at the University of Tennessee before taking my services private. During my time working there, I became CRLA certified as a Professional Tutor Internationally. I also recieved the award for Outstanding Contributions for the Honor's program through the Student Success Center thanks to my contributions to the honors community as a tutor. Since then, I have spent two years tutoring in Knoxville, with plenty of clients based on word-of-mouth. I'm now hoping to tutor online and use this webiste as many students still need help despite school closing and tutoring availability because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally charge $60 per hour for tutoring sessions, or $30 for a 30 minute session.
On a case-by-case basis, I will negotiate reduced rates for students/families with proof of financial hardship. This would most easily be agreed upon with documentation, such as proof that your child qualifies for free/reduced lunch through the school system.
How did you get started teaching?
My mom was a school teacher when I was growing up and inspired me to want to do something similar.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages and ability levels. Some examples include:
-Tutoring a college freshman through Honors Engineering
-Tutoring an elementary aged student in math who has learning and development disabilities
-Tutoring an adult that was returning to college after 20 years in the workforce
-Tutoring a middle school aged student in math who was homeschooled due to severe social anxiety
-Tutoring a high school senior as they prepare for their AP exams
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The student I tutored (prior to pandemic) with severe social anxiety recently finished their end of course evaluations in algebra and began studying introductory geometry concepts. The energy my student spent to overcome his disabilities and learn the material took a long time, but was inspiration when he achieved his goal and very fulfilling.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Tutoring is often half way about learning and half way about confidence building. The two go hand in hand, so choose a tutor that is good at teaching, but also good at encouraging.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
When did I start to struggle? Is there a time in the past that I missed material, perhaps leaving a gap in learning? What do you want out of a tutor? Someone to help with homework? Someone to work practice problems with? Someone to help you conceptually? Someone to teach an entire topic? Etc.
