Frequently asked questions

I start with a meet-and-greet with the student and parent to discuss scheduling and what subjects we will be working on, where the student needs he most help, and their learning style. I also ensure that I review the Tennessee learning standards for the grade I am working with.

I have been a babysitter for the last 8 years and am currently in the process of earning a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I tutored algebra in high school and am now tutoring 1st grade math and reading.

I charge $15-20/hour depending on what the family is able to afford.

I started out as a babysitter when I was in middle school and became a math tutor soon after, which I continued through middle and high school. I then decided to become a teacher and have been earning a degree in order to follow that dream.

I have worked with students in elementary, middle, and high school tutoring a variety of subjects.

I would recommend that the student ensure they find a teacher that they connect with and that has a teaching style that works well which the student’s learning style. Having a teacher that you work well with is essential for learning.

Students should know what areas they need the most help with, what specific skills within those areas they find the most challenging, and what their learning style is.
