About
As a former high school English teacher and English degree holder, I know the ins and outs of the English language as well as how to teach it effectively. My years in a classroom have given me the knowledge of what is expected in an English curriculum and how to teach it.
I have a passion for the English language, liturature, and writing and for enabling others to succeed. Over the years, I have tutored students from elementary to college. As a student myself, I was voted Most Outstanding English Student of the Year for Indiana University in 2016. And, as a teacher, I found great success teaching high school students about grammar, writing, reading, and literature.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When starting with a new student, the first session is spent on the basics. I like the student to bring at lease 4 samples of their English work with them and share with me the areas they feel most insecure and secure. If a student is elementary age, I prefer a parent be completely involved in this session.
From there, it is important for the student or parent to give me feedback. Did they see improvement in a certain area but not another? I need to know that!
Most tutoring is completely student led, meaning I am providing the information and activities, but the student is telling me which paths need to be explored as we work together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in English with a focus in writing and editing. I also have an Indiana State teaching license.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching at a very young age. I taught gymnatics from the age of 15 and realized that I loved it. I went to school initially for an elementary education degree and taught PreK for 4 years following my first round of college. I continued to coach for several years and eventually returned to school for my English degree and decided to teach after I had received it.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all levels of students, including adults in a corporate setting. I have taught PreK, elementary age children, and most recently, high school. I have also tutored college students and helped ESL students as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My best memory from my high school teaching was when a student who really struggled with English was able to bring their grade up from a D- to a B by working with me during Student Resource Time and after school. I could not only see how happy understanding the material made them, but also a jump in their self-confidence.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you find someone who can teach in varying styles so you are sure to be comfortable in your sessions.
