What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to find out the history the student has had with the subject and learn what hobbies and interests they have. I try to find a way to teach them in a way that incorporates their interests, so that they can learn more easily.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took numerous math classes in college as part of my major in Anthropology.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Simple lessons start at $20/hr. Beyond those I factor in prep time, materials (if applicable), and level of math.
How did you get started teaching?
I explained concepts to fellow classmates in college and they spread the word. I had at least one person from each math and science class asking for help.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've helped everyone from elementary school aged children up to my peers in college.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Best advice I can give is to be honest about your needs and ask for extra help when you need it.
