Frequently asked questions

I would like to first talk to you about how you learn best. Are you a visual learner or do you learn best verbally? Are you hands on or do you like having examples laid out for you to examine? Then I would like to know where you are struggling so that I can center the lessons in your learning style and focus on your problem areas.

I have a Bachelor's in Psychology and spent a semester in a special needs classroom observing and aiding the teachers. I have also been tutoring friends and classmates, as well as my own children, for over 10 years. I taught swim lessons to kids as young as 6 months all the way up to people in their 70's. So I have experience in many areas, teaching many different kinds of students.

I am new to this and because of this I would like to offer my services for $10 an hour while I'm still learning the ropes.

I have loved teaching for as long as I can remember. It is something I have always been passionate about and something I genuinely enjoy doing. I've spent the most time teaching math and swimming, but my experiences there really have helped me learn how to teach each student in the ways that work best for them.

I have worked with students of all ages, races, creeds, and abilities. I have experience with special needs individuals.

I have recently been teaching a friend's daughter who had a near drowning experience how to swim. Just seeing it click for her is amazing to me. She made leaps and bounds in her progress and it gives me such pride and a sense of accomplishment.

How can I best help you? Should I start from the bare basics or do you have a basic understanding of the concept? Do you learn quickly or do you need to work through many examples together? Help us help you!
