About this tutor

I have experience working with diverse groups of students, helping me be able to meet students where they are and get them to where they need to go!

I love seeing students reach their goals and the level of success they usually don't think is possible when we first start meeting!

    Great Tutor!

Rebekah Vance comes prepared, brings extra helpful material, gives attention to detail, is thorough, knows the subject matter, sees the work to completion, can explain subject matter in a clear way, is prompt, cheerful, and flexible. My daughter was far behind in class due to sickness and Mrs. Vance quickly taught her the material and helped her manage the projects due. She is the best!

Rebekah has the patience of a SAINT. My son really couldn’t have made it through his classes without her. We truly appreciate all she did for us. She is extremely kind and was so flexible to work with our schedule

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I usually meet once or schedule a call that lasts about 30 minutes to discuss what the student's specific needs are.  If my services and personality seem like a good fit for the family, we work out a schedule.  If we meet in person, we usually do so at a library.  If we meet virtually, I have used FaceTime, Zoom, or Skype.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a degree in education from Belmont University with a major in Spanish and minor in English.  I taught 5 years at Glencliff High School and 4 at Franklin Road Academy.  I have worked as a private tutor or a tutor at Homework Hotline throughout my time in the classroom.  Currently, I am the director of Homework Hotline, but I plan to return to the classroom in August.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

 Virtual

K-5: $30 per hour (if student already has material to cover)

6-12: $40 per hour (if student already has material to cover)

In-person (student and I meet at an agreed upon location)

K-5: $45 per hour (if student already has material to cover)

6-12: $55 per hour (if student already has material to cover)

I am happy to create curriculum and a learning plan, but pricing varies depending on the amount of curriculum needed.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with a variety of students and am comfortable working with struggling students and high achievers.  My students at Glencliff we're very diverse, and after my first year as a teacher, they grew 2 years on average during my 2nd and 3rd year as a teacher, and 3 years on average during my 4th year.

I have tutored numerous Franklin Road Academy students.  Some have wanted to move their B to an A; others have been failing and wanted to pass their class.  All of the students I have worked with consistently have achieved their goal!

At Homework Hotline, I often work with students on a variety of work.  Many request me the next time they call.
