Berry's Tutoring
About
My name is Courtney Berry! I graduated with honors from Presbyterian College with a degree in elementary education. I was also selected as Prebsyterian College's 2019 intern of the year for my work as a student teacher! Following graduation I have been teaching two years in greenville and I am currently teach 5th grade! I believe in using an engaging and hands approach to learning to make it fun and meaningful! My strengths are math, science, and reading, though I currently teach all subjects! In addtion to teaching, I have also worked after school this year as a tutor in order to remidate skills lost during the pandemic. I believe that every child can learn given the right enviroment; when a child feels safe, loved and challenged, and free to explore, they can surpass our highest expectations.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a student I like to have a general idea of their current needs or recommendations from a previous teacher. After, with the guidance of the parent, I make an education plan and schedule. The way I typically tutor is through a Me, We, You strategy. This is where I will spend 5-10 minutes teaching the skill, next WE spend 10-15 minutes practing the skill together, and then when I see the student is ready to attempt the skill independently I allow them to work and I help as needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Prebsyterian College. I have worked as a fifth grade teacher for two years and tutor after school for the same school district. I am also responsible for planning learning instruction for all subjects!
I also worked with Axcess care my responsibilites included:
• Assumed responsibility as caretaker for three boys (ages 3-5), 2 of which had disabilities.
• Responsibilities included: tube feeding, bathing, dressing, mobility, accompanying to medical appointments and therapy, and everyday care
• Implemented flexibility and behavior management tools on a daily basis
• Gained a variety of skills and strategies working with children who are blind and nonverbal, as well as children with autism.
