Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Ask a few questions to let the student know I am friendly and approachable. Then find out what they are struggling with and why. This could be because they haven't had good instruction or because they hate the subject. Either way I take the feedback and apply a selective method to teaching the subject that helps the student open up to the coursework more willingly.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in English and am currently pursuing a MA in English at the University of Southern New Hampshire.
I have taught young children in Korean Martial Arts as an assistant instructor. I have a limited experience assisting in teaching High School Students at Daniel High School.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing varies upon distance traveled and grade level of student.
How did you get started teaching?
I had a professor in my first year of college that was super fun and relatable. He showed me that teaching was a fun and rewarding career! His approach to teaching and friendly nature really opened my eyes to the possibilities I could achieve as an educator!
What types of students have you worked with?
Elementary through College. My largest expsure is to High School and College students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have recently self-published my first Novella "Black Marsh Plantation".
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try and see if they are someone that is friendly and are willing to adapt to your learning style. The main reason I find students struggling is due to the teachers approach or just a fowl attitude that pushes the student away. A good educator will be happy to help you and always do their best to adapt to your learning needs!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Will they think differently of me?
Will I be embarassed to bring this up?
Small things like that will always go through a students mind when their personal education needs come into the picture. My advice is to make sure there is a connection between you and the instuctor that establishes a sense of trust and acceptence before pushing forward.
