About

Hello users, I am an early childhood educator and have had the pleasure to train and work with a variety of students. I am prepared to help assist students in a variety of subject areas. My main areas of focus would be to help with elementary mathematics and english langauage arts. I have several strategies and trainings that will equip me to accommodate different learning styles. Tutoring is not simply a transaction, rather it is a job to help fill in the gaps for a child's academic career. It is a pleasure to serve our young learners and our future.

I have been known to really get to know my students professionally and accommodate them based on their interests. Students tend to be more willing to work when they have a great relationship with their teacher. I love to be able to work with children one on one or in small group instruction because this provides the assistance that some children need that is sometimes limited in a classroom setting. I love to make the light bulb go off in a child's mind, helping them make connections to their studies maximizes instruction and makes it meaningful to them. I have had the pleasure of assisting several teachers in clinicals during my college experience and will be a certified teacher in the state of SC within just a few weeks. I am excited to apply all that I have learned into students and my profession.

Anya was a wonderful tutor for my nephews. One struggled in math and one struggled in ELA. Anya was able to help them reach goals that resulted in improvement on their schoolwork. With her help they were able to feel more confident in their work. If you’re looking for an excellent tutor she is definitely a great choice. We thank you again for all of your help.

    Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, I find building a relationship with that student is the best practice. Students need to feel comfortable and maybe share their interests with the instructor. The instructor needs to know about their student before they can design effective lessons for that student. Every child is different so getting know the students interests as well as their academic history is beneficial to planning.

I have taken several education courses pertaining to early childhood instruction of all base subjects. I have had clinicals where I have worked one on one, small group, and whole group with students. I have had experience teaching one subject to all subjects to a full class of students. I have written lesson plans along with instructing so I am familiar with state requirements. I have been apart of Teaching Children of Poverty Scholars at my university so this trained me for accommodating students with difficult home situations.

I would generally charge $20-$25 an hour for lessons. If there are special accommodations or travel is involved the pricing would increase.

I have always had a love for educating young children. They are a joy to work with and soak up more knowledge in the earlier years than most adults realize. Studies show that the early childhood years have a great impact on the rest of a child's academic years. I desire to work with students who are Pre-K to 3rd grade as I will be licensed to instruct and who I have the most experience educating.

I have observed students from infancy to 4 years of age. I have read to Kindergarten. I have instructed 3rd grade more than once. I have had students who have had special accommodations (504 plans/IEP) and I have worked with students of poverty.

Most recently I have recieved recognition for participating in a study of neuroscience of students of poverty through an organization at Francis Marion University. One must understand the mind of a child before they may be able to instruct them or work with them.

Look for a teacher who shows genuine interest in their students and who has a passion to help others. Also, look for someone who knows their content and can meet the student where they are and bring them to where they need to be academically. Look for a teacher who can teach a child with grace and understanding.

Ask the teacher if they have background in the subject area that they need help in. Ask the teacher if they have experience with children similar the student (age, abilities, zone of proximal development).
