Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I meet a student for the first time, I like to understand them as a person, their likes and dislikes, and what their goal is. Without a goal, our time doing work can seem pointless.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my degree in biology, and have working in a science lab for two years. While I have taught and assisted my professor, I am eager to learn new things teaching on my own.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
This is my full-time job, so my prices are $40/hr.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as a requirement for my degree. I enjoyed it so much that I stayed on.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with college students, but at this point am more comfortable with working with younger students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I am patient and am here to help students. I encourage asking questions and am okay with admitting that I do not know everything. Questions merely give me that ability to learn more myself.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would encourage students to know what they want to work on and bring that to our meeting. That way we can optimize our time together!
