About
I was the head teacher in a Montessori classroom, teaching 4th-6th grade students for 16 years. I taught math, reading, English, history and science. I have worked with children with special needs, and enjoy helping students find innovative ways to truly understand their work. I have also taught science to 1st-3rd grade children as well. I have tutored after school through most of the teaching career. I recently moved to PA with my family. I'm an artist, and a muralist, but miss working with kids, so I am looking to tutor again.
I love the Aha moment! That moment when you have helped a student understand a concept!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I take some time to talk with the student and the parents to find out what the student is having trouble with, or where they want to improve. I ask a lot of questions to figure out how the student learns best, so I can teach them tools to make learning more enjoyable.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a certified art teacher for 7 years, then took some time to raise my family. When I returned to teaching it was at a Montessori school, where I was head teacher for the last 16 years. As the head teacher for the 4th-6th grade classroom I developed curriculum, and taught students using a cross curricular approach. I am an enthusiastic and engaging teacher.

How did you get started teaching?
I have always taught, from summer camps to art museums, public inner city schools to suburban Montessori schools. I enjoy working with children, helping them to love learning.
