Biraj Nainabasti Tutoring
About
While many tutoring methods follow a simple teach-and-practice approach, I strive to create engaging, interactive lessons that help students develop true problem-solving and critical thinking skills. I have been tutoring since my freshman year of high school, and my students consistently appreciate how quickly they are able to understand even the most challenging concepts.
Academically, I earned a perfect score on both the SAT Math and ACT Math sections and have completed college-level calculus coursework. I also earned scores of 5 on AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics 1, giving me a strong foundation across mathematics and the sciences. This allows me to confidently tutor students in a wide range of STEM subjects, from middle school through advanced high school and introductory college courses.
Beyond academics, I am an incoming Biosciences + Kinesiology student at Rice University and can also provide guidance on the college application process, including course planning, application strategy, essays, and admissions advice. I'm excited to help students build confidence, achieve their academic goals, and develop skills that will benefit them long after our tutoring sessions.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Starting from 60$/hr for most mathematics but can vary from student to student. I take PayPal or Venmo, but I'm very willing to work with students and families to find what works.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching when I realized that I was able to quickly pick up difficult concepts in math classes that my peers couldn't. Seeing how I was able to help the students in my classes understand these concepts through an engaging learning process, I aspire to do this for other students all over the country as well.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students ranging from eighth grade to college seniors, from 12 to 43 years old.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
One advice I would give to a student looking to hire a teacher in th field of mathematics is to find someone that enjoys teaching it in a way that stems away from the traditional classroom lecture format.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should decide what amount of time forks best for them and what specifically do they need help with. It helps to know what students need and how to provide it.
