What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start all new students off with a Q and A session. What are your goals for tutoring? Are there any specific areas where you need extra help? From there, we will build a customized plan for future lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a B.A. in English from Chatham University, where I graduated summa cum laude.
How did you get started teaching?
I started volunteering as a tutor in undergrad.
What types of students have you worked with?
All kinds! My oldest student was in their mid thirties and my youngest was six. I've also worked with clients from a range of academic backgrounds, including students with executive functioning challenges.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for somebody who is patient, empathetic, and willing to explain concepts at your level. Tutoring is all about setting your own pace for learning. You should always feel supported on your educational journey.
