About

I am a medical student in Philadelphia who specializes in Physiology, Anatomy, Biology, and the pre-medical sciences. I have been working as a tutor since under-grad and continued to do so throughout my post-bacc. and now during medical school.

I also enjoy teaching at the high school and middle school level. Additionally, I am a native Spanish speaker, so I am able to tutor spanish speakers, ESL, and sciences in Spanish languages.

I use an online whiteboard app. while tutoring so my students and I can work together in real time during our lessons. I ask my students to send me the material they want to review prior to the lessons so I come to the lesson prepared and waste no time.

Lastly, I am available to my students via text and e-mail between sessions should they have any pressing questions.

Recently, one of the youth climbers I coached told me she wants to study medicine because I "make it sound not so scary". I know what she means, because I felt that too once, although good mentors and friends showed me how great it can be!

This is what I enjoy doing, being able to share experiences and help you reach your goals by removing whatever obstacles are in your way, sometimes they are academic, and sometimes we block ourselves.

Finding Axel as an anatomy tutor was gold. I was literally failing anatomy until I started working with him. His use of the online whiteboard really helped me and was able to solidify connections I was missing.

There is nothing negative I could ever say. He is a nice person with a good heart and a brilliant mind. He is very patient when he teaches and he has a gift for explaining difficult concepts very easily in a manner that is easy to understand. He helped me to create notes of the material so I had an easy to understand visual map to guide me through my studies. He was always punctual and continued to help me solve problems even after our scheduled tutoring time.

Axel is awesome! He has a great manner about him, super professional yet friendly and approachable. She worked with my daughter on 9th grade science as well as Spanish. He really helped boost her confidence. I highly recommend Axel!!

I worked with Axel on gen chem. He was very flexible with how he taught and adjusted her teaching style to fit me (Im very much a visual learner so she used a lot of videos, pictures). He would also send me great Khan Academy videos between our sessions to help me review.

Frequently asked questions

My first meeting with a new student is non-academic, and so it is free! It is important I get to know the student and ensure they feel comfortable with me as well. We talk about personal goals and interests outside of the classroom.

Then, we identify any anxieties surrounding the subject and make a clear plan to attack them. The ending of our first meeting involves creating a study calander which outlines what I expect my student to complete before meeting again. This involves organizing the material, making me a copy of the syllabus, and preparing what they would like to review.

I have a B.A. from Wesleyan University in Psychology with a minor in English Writing. I completed a post-bacc from UVM and currently attend medical school at Temple University.

Prior to starting medical school I coached a competitive youth rock climbing team.

Your first lesson is free! This gives us a chance to decide if we are a good match.

I then charge $60/ one hour lesson. First 5 minutes is used to set up and set session goals, 50 minutes of tutoring, 5 minutes for summary and plan. This fee includes my preparation prior to the lesson, as well as my contact information in case you have pressing questions between sessions.

If purchased in packs of 3, 5 or 10 I offer discounts (can be discussed on an individual basis).

I started tutoring friends while in college and someone said "you really should be getting paid for this!".

I have worked with middle school students, high school students, college students, non-traditional students (I am one!) as well as ESL students.

Look for someone with a positive attitude, willingness to be flexible in their teaching style, and has ample experience working with different types of students.

What am I looking for in a tutor? Do I need motivation to push through the boring material? Or organizational skills? Or help understanding a complicated subject?

Once you know what it is you'r elooking for you can't go wrong in your search!
