I am a recent graduate from Wellesley College with experience teaching academic subjects as well as dance. In addition to studying early childhood education in school, I spent two summers teaching English and math to elementary school students and two academic years as a dance instructor. Working with young people is a delight and I am happy to be flexible in working with families to create a learning environment that is best suited to the unique challenges of the moment. I love nothing more than to learn something new, so it excites me to be able to share that experience with the students that I work with. Children naturally approach learning with a creativity that I believe helps us to learn most effectively. I most enjoy working with students in order to help find in them that creativity and bring forth the joy, confidence, and curiosity of learning.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I like hear three things from them: (1) what their goals are, (2) what they have been struggling with most, and (3) what learning approaches have worked best for them in the past. From there, we can have a conversation about my approach to tutoring and how I can be of the most help to them moving forward.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
While studying for my B.A., I studied theories of early childhood education and education psychology. I have experience teaching English and math to elementary school students, dance to elementary- and middle school students, and tutoring a variety of subjects to high school students. I also have experience working with small groups as a public speaking and leadership tutor.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always loved working with young people. Throughout my life, I worked as a babysitter, helped out at camps at my school, and looked after kids around the neighborhood. My first experience teaching was when I took time off of school to work as a teaching assistant as a part of a fellowship program in Moshi, Tanzania. There, I assisted two primary instructuctors in teaching a class of 60 three to six year olds, focusing on math and English. I've been teaching ever since.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I find that even a brief conversation is the surest way to find the right tutor. So much of learning is about forging a connection between the student and the tutor. I like to get on the phone or on Zoom with all potential clients so that they can get to know my approach firsthand before moving forward with the process.
