About

I have 10 years of classroom experience, including three years teaching exclusively Fifth Grade Math and four years teaching Third Grade Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies. I'm very familiar with the Math in Focus (Singapore Math) curriculum and approach. Before being accepted to Teach For America in 2009 and becoming a math teacher, I specialized in writing and editing and graduated from Temple University with a B.A. in Journalism. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with any questions!

I love engaging and working with students 1:1 and in small and large groups. Encouraging students to explain their reasoning, make connections, and identify areas for further exploration through creative, open-ended, and evaluative questioning is my strong suit. I model humility, curiosity, and the mindset of a patient, joyful learner by not knowing/having all the answers and constantly asking my students "what do you think?", "how did you know?", and "does that remind you of anything else you've learned or want to learn?"

She was always very kind and helped me work out things I didnt understand. She was very patient and never lost her temper. I am so thankful to this tutor as she helped me through lots of my schoolwork.

I have 10 years of classroom experience, including three years teaching exclusively Fifth Grade Math and four years teaching Third Grade Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies. I was a regional semi-finalist for the Sue Lehman Excellence in Teaching Award, and I received the ETS Recognition of Excellence Award for my performance on the Elementary Education: Content Knowledge Praxis. I'm very familiar with the Math in Focus (Singapore Math) curriculum and approach and spearheaded my campus search to adopt it in 2013. Before joining Teach For America in 2009 and becoming a math teacher, I specialized in writing and editing and graduated from Temple University with a B.A. in Journalism.

I was accepted to Teach For America in 2009 and placed in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) of South Texas, where I spent two years teaching Fifth Grade Math and falling in love with teaching! In college and high school, I volunteered as an after school homework helper and mentor and spent summers working as a camp counselor for elementary school students. I even spent three months working in the infant room at a daycare center!
