Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first try to understand where the student is, and where they want to go. From there, I build a lesson plan that will get them there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a PhD in Mathematical Biology, and have experience teaching undergraduate students. My strong suites are calculus and statistics, both of which I used extensively to publish peer reviewed journal articles.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I can work with you to find a rate that works for both of us. I charge a ballpark $75/hr.
How did you get started teaching?
One day, I was given a textbook and put in front of an undergrad class with 50+ students to teach a course I had not taken before. By the end of the term, I was getting great reviews.
What types of students have you worked with?
Undergraduate engineering majors, high school students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Pick someone who is invested in your development over someone who has amazing credentials.
