About

Knowing that everyone learns differently, my teaching methods vary according to the student. If they're visual, hands on, etc.... If they are ahead, falling behind, or barely hanging on to understand the material, my goal is to accelerate their understanding and help them realize that thy too can be good at math. I focus on the understanding of the material, and I make sure I explain things in a way the student would understand and be able to retain the material.

Mathematics and working with numbers is what I enjoy doing most. On a more personal level, I am friendly and enjoy working with people. My students, coworkers, friends, and parents of students would describe me as a team player; someone who is understanding and they enjoy being around.

Patient and knowledgeable! Yafet was amazing! Whenever I didn’t understand something, he would explain it a different way and slower to help me understand. Affordable pricing! Would 100% recommend!

I like the tutors the center provides. Yafet makes sure to understand what your strengths are and then teaches accordingly. If you’re a visual learner, then he makes sure to use lots of visuals. If you’re not, he finds what works for you and teaches to the best of his ability. He’s great! Would use him as a tutor again.

I liked the tutor experience, but working with Yafet made my experience even better! Yafet is very skilled at guiding you to the correct answer, as well as breaking down the parts that you do not understand. If you do not understand it one way, Yafet makes it easy to understand in a different way. He makes a study session enjoyable!

    Frequently asked questions

First, I would verbally test them to see where they stand in knowledge of the course that they need tutoring in. Then I give them a couple of math problems from previous chapters that they have completed in the course, and have them explain to me their thought process. This way, I know how they learn (visual, by doing, etc...) Lastly, depending on their style of learning (visual, doing, etc...) that’s how I would teach them.

I have tutored everything from Elementary math to College Calculus 2. I have tutored for a little over 5 years

    Middle School and Younger: $25/hr

High School (Algebra & Geometry): $30/hr

    High school (Trigonometry/Pre-calculus): $35/hr

    College Student:

    (Trigonometry): $45/hr

    (Calculus I): $50/hr

    (Calculus II): $65/hr

I fell in love with math at about 2-3 years old. I have completed "mental math" spreadsheets for "fun" which is something not everyone can say about math. I have always enjoyed it, and helped my peers in their math assignments. I enjoyed doing so, and since about 10th grade (16 Years old) I have been tutoring and helping those that I could help in the math area.

I have worked with students of all ages between 5 and 30 years old.

I would tell a student that if they want someone who is going to be effective in teaching them the things they're looking help in, they would need to test them. Give them a try and during the session keep in mind all the things you would want someone to do with you and for you in order to help you learn, and ask them why don't they do those things, or if they do those things, just simply thank them for doing so and helping you learn. This will motivate both the student and the teacher to be as effective as possible during their sessions.

    1. Do I actually understand the previous material that I need in order to complete where I am stuck now?

    2. Do you have any success stories with previous students? If so, can you share one or two?
