I have been a special education teacher for the last five years working in Philadelphia. I have taught students from K-12. I love teaching my students new concepts to help them increase their skills in reading and math.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We do fun get to know you activities and then completing different fun assessments to get their current levels in reading, writing, and math.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been a special education teacher for the last five years. I have my undrlergrad degree in prek-4 elementary Ed and special Ed prek-8. I've been a reading and math support teacher for grades k-12 and life skills teacher for 10-12. I also have my masters degree in education and special education. I have my autism endorsement and currently going for a certification in Behavior Analysis.
How did you get started teaching?
I've always enjoyed babysitting and helping my siblings with their homework growing up. So it was an easy decision to go get my teacher degree and certification.

I've worked with all different types of students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find one that understands your needs and will teach you to how you learn.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Know what your struggling with if you can. This can help find the best interventions and help the teacher plan the best lessons.
