About
Reading Escapades & Math Explorers, Inc stands out because we believe that your children deserve the best education out there, and we strive to be part of that equation. As such, we customize each of our lessons to fit the student's needs as well as goals. In addition, Christine matches the student's personality with the tutors for the ultimate match. Our focus is achieving all of the goals that the parents and students have both short term and long term.
While each of tutors have different opinions, our founder, Christine Allen, LOVES seeing students who gave up on themselves and felt they could never be "smart enough" change their attitude and become some of the best students in their classes. She also enjoys getting students to believe then repeat her philosophies, like "an invovled assignment isn't that tough if we just take the steps necessary to prepare properly".

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We want to ensure that when a student and their parents choose Reading Excapdes & Math Explorers, Inc, it is the best option for them. Therefore, we start with having a prospective student fill out a quick application at https://read2day.com/schedule/ and then schedule a time to speak personally with our founder and president, Chrsitine Allen. She will help you determine if we have staff qualified to help your child reach their goals. Once that happens, if everyone wants to move forward, the final step includes Christine conducting a free assessment session with each student to see if we will accept the student into our program.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have many different tutors all with different backgrounds here at Reading Escapades & Math Explorers, Inc and each can be found at https://read2day.com/about/. However, Christine has been trained by pediatric neurosurgeons on how the child's brain develops. Thus, she has a different approach to teaching than someone going through an educational background. In addition, she has homeschooled for over 20 years with her elder sons both being awarded the top academic scholarships at every college they applied. As for other students, she has been very successful at helping children of all types by finding out what is important to them, and show them how a good education will help achieve those goals.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our pricing starts at $250 a month for once-a-week sessions with a standard tutor and goes up from there depending on the needs of the student and the time commitment needed from our staff. However, most of our students are at this price. We also offer discounts for military families, including veterans, as well as first responders and school employees.
How did you get started teaching?
All of our tutors have different stories, which you can check out at https://read2day.com/about/ but Christmas started teaching in first grade when Mrs. Bell asked her to help her fellow classmates in both reading and math. She loved it so much, she then (for years to the teachers dismay :-) ) pested for extra worksheets and took them home to "teach" her stuffed animals and dolls. Then, when she became the director of a public library, she ran all the after school programs before starting Reading Escapades & Math Explorers, Inc in 2006. In addition, she has homeschooled her sons for over 20 years successfully.
What types of students have you worked with?
Reading Escapades & Math Explorers, Inc works with all types of students. Our age range starts at 4 years old, and, currently, we have someone who is 72. However, our typical grade level is from 1st grade through college. We have students who have gone on to very selective schools and needed, not only to have the highest GPA, but to do more than what the schools are doing. Thus, for them, we provide customized classes, such as Latin. In addition, we often work with students on the specturm as well as with many other disabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
So you know more about me personally, and not just as a tutor, a yearly local event that I LOVE is the Christmas in July at the Palmerton Pool. Santa comes in a bathing suit and a Hawaiian shirt. He give s out pool toys to all the kids along with ice pops. They play Christmas music all day. In addition, every 15 minutes the pool gives away gifts donated by the local businesses. However, my favorite part is that many of the patrons bake Christmas cookies that get passed around to all the people. I think I eat about 50 Christmas cookies by the end of the day :-).
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
When looking for a tutor, you want to make sure that they can explain the subject in a way your child understands. Also, they should be able to get along personality-wise, as that will allow the tutor to help motivate the student to do their best.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Instead of having a set of questions, the student should ask for a trial session to see if the teaching methods that the tutor uses works for their learning style. They should not be afraid to tell the tutor they don't understand. It is the tutor's job to ensure the student understands, but the tutor may not realize if there is not good communication.
