I am a freelance journalist in Portland, OR with extensive tutoring experience with young adults. For three years during college I tutored fellow student-athletes as well as local high school students in a variety of writing formats. I was a journalism major with a double minor in media studies and gender studies.
I specialize in persuasive writing, analytical essays, classic American literature, expository essays, personal essays, sentence structure, grammar and college/admission essays.
I love working with students one-on-one to hone their writing skills. Helping students understand how to craft a compelling essay, and seeing the pride they cultivate for their work, continues to inspire me.
I am able to drive to the student’s home or have students meet me at a local coffee shop for tutoring sessions.
If you’d like any more information, please feel free to reach out to me via phone or email. I look forward to working with you or your child!

During our first session, I like to get a sense of the student’s writing level and style. I’ll ask the student to bring in several recent pieces they’ve written so I can go over them and identify strengths and weaknesses. From there, we’ll work on a current assignment or project and use the original pieces as a framework for how to best help the student with the current assignment.
I was an English and writing tutor for three years during college for fellow students. I am also a journalist for a local newspaper, and prior to working in print I had a fellowship with National Public Radio. During that time I found stories, spoke with sources, crafted scripts, and curated a news story.
I have flexible pricing dependent on the family’s financial stability, as I want every student to have the opportunity to improve their writing no matter income level. However, my standard pricing is below:
1/2 hour: $25.0
45 minutes: $35.0
1 hour: $50.0
I first started tutoring officially during college, when I tutored student-athletes in English and writing. I am able to meet students at whatever level they’re currently at, whether they’re young elementary students first learning how to construct fluid sentences or seniors in high school who are in AP English.
