When it comes to Academic writing, I've never met anyone who is more proficient or effective than I am. In College, I was a paper wizard, consistently earning A's from the hardest professors (Profs with monikers like Asher the Grade-Slasher) like their essay assignments were open-book quizzes. I even won some awards for research papers I've written. All this is to say: I know my way around an argument outline.

For me, Paper Writing was always a breeze. I couldn't believe how much everyone else seemed to struggle. But when I started tutoring, I realized that getting good grades on papers wasn't some special talent only I had. Anyone could succeed pretty easily once they were armed with the right information.

I got paid by school to tutor peers for all 4 years of my college experience. From ESL students, to dissertation candidates, every one of my students improved, and many saw 1 to 2 whole letter grade jumps on their writing assignments. In my final year, I became the highest-rated tutor at my College's Writing Center. Not only did I get results for my students on the grade books, but as a result, they all became better writers.

I decided to keep tutoring after college, because I wanted to spread my wealth of knowledge on Academic Writing. Nothing feels better to me than seeing someone who once dreaded paper writing, breeze through a paper and get the grade their argument deserves.

My goals with students adhere to a strict hierarchy, and all of my students can expect me to act accordingly as a tutor.

1.) Improve the Grade

For different people this will take different forms. But for me, first and foremost, I will try to ensure that any time you spend with me directly results in a better grade for you. This is the overall result that we are aiming for. If you're with me for an hour, you got better as a writer; a half hour, you get better; even 5 minutes, I want to give you one or two USEFUL pieces of information that will forever improve your essay grades.

2.) Build Rapport & Familiarity with the Student

I need to know where you are at in your skill level, where you want to be, and how you learn, so that I can take you there. If you are my student, I am going to be invested in your success, and to be the most succesful I have to be able to teach you the best way you can learn.

3.) Improve the Writing

My goal is not to have us work on a paper together, and you just follow my instructions to a better grade. Ultimately, I will improve your writing in general. I teach principles, not arguments. What I teach you will be applicable for all argumentative academic writing, and should help you improve to the point where you need me more as a resource and partner, than a tutor.
