I know Skylar personally from acting with him in Portland. I liked our focus on technique, I have some vocal problems and his focus on technique helped a lot in understanding which parts of the body help in the voice. His normal rate is 25 an hour but he does make exceptions for those who cant afford it, like for me my first lesson was free which was really nice because I was able to see whether or not I would continue with lessons online. For me personally, I would have liked a little more focus on finding music and the online connection was just personally not for me, but I think for anyone looking for good teachers who actually know what they are talking and can make the online thing work and also cant afford to spend 60 dollars on voice lessons, Skylar is a good option!

My lesson with Skylar was an hour long, we started by warming up. I filled out a google form beforehand that asked what I wanted to get out of the lesson with Skylar. He asked me questions about my range, my favorite styles and genres of music, what I felt were my strengths and weaknesses and what I wanted to accomplish in my lesson. I was afraid that because of the online connection that the lag might be uncomfortable, I felt very at home and felt like he was genuinely here to help. Whenever I was struggling with a difficult part in my range we would brake it down into simpler concepts or explain it in a way that I could actually replicate and I actually learned a lot about my voice!
