About

Hello! 👋 My name is John and I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Computer Science on a full scholarship. As a full time engineer, I have worked for Fortune 500 companies and major research institutions including as Southwest Airlines, UT Southwestern Medical Center, and Rice University.

I scored a 790/800 on the SAT Math. For years, I have helped students all across the US improve their scores from 140-340 points on the New SAT. I love teaching the SAT Math as I've had great success in helping my students improve the fastest.

I also tutor computer programming in Python and JavaScript, and I work with student's interests to design projects that are fun, easy, and educational. I have received awards for my programming skills, including 1st Place in the Southwest Hackathon. Today, I work with a wide range of students, from 8 year olds to professionals.

No matter the background - athlete, ADHD/ADD, gifted, dyslexic, army, working professional - I want to help you unlock your potential. Contact me for a free consultation!

Dani really liked John. He made her feel at ease and helped her a lot with problems she had difficulty completing. It was a good match. He is such a great fit for my daughter.

John helped me review Grammar tips in SAT that were very helpful. He also helped me learn how to understand how to answer certain questions that I had trouble with. I look forward to taking more lessons with him.

What an amazing, conscientious, thoughtful and hard working tutor!!! Dont let his age scare you. John was born to teach, help and assist others. He takes complete pride in his work and wants every single student to succeed. He is able to focus on their individual needs and areas they need to improve upon. He understands that they are busy with school work or extra curricular activities so he tries to keep homework assignments reasonable. If hes pushing your child its because its crunch time and only temporary! I find my son listens better to John telling him to work hard rather than me :) You will not be disappointed with John. Hes the best tutor we have had to date. Now, basically, its up to our kids to execute what hes trying to help them learn.

    Frequently asked questions

I invite them to one of my free, unpaid Saturday full exam sessions and they take a full diagnostic test. We then sit together and determine the best plan of action.

I am currently seeking my BS in Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas on a full-ride merit-based scholarship. My SAT was a 1510 (99.3% percentile) and a 23/24 on my essay. I was a National Merit Commended Scholar and an AP Scholar with Distinction. My academic strengths include writing, math, and reading. On the side, I am a nationally award-winning flute soloist and have received over $150,000 in scholarships for my academic merit and community impact.

I have taught privately and through big companies such as Varsity Tutors and Wyzant, where I hold a perfect 5-star rating in both platforms and a Top 10 Best Tutors recognition on Tutors.com.

    I charge $80 / hour.This includes:

    - Specialized curriculum pinpointing individual needs

    - 15+ official, full-length practice tests

    - 100+ section practice tests

    - Proctored test sections

    - Free in-class textbooks and books

    - Weekly problem section and test-taking workshops

    - Guaranteed improvement of your score

Four years ago, I realized my talent for teaching when I opened my own private music studio in Beaverton, Oregon. Since then, I've had dozens of raving parents and highly successful students because of my energetic and passionate approach to teaching. My ability to explain difficult concepts and establish lasting connections with students was soon applied to academic subjects. I then landed a private contract with Varsity Tutors and was a top-rated tutor for years with a 5.0-star rating.

I have tutored the entire spectrum of students: ambitious students who improve scores up to 410 points, busy students who juggle work and sports, and students with disabilities, such as dyslexia and ADHD.

It is one thing to hire a basic SAT tutor, but an entirely different thing to find an SAT tutor who cares!

Does the tutor truly care about your success?

How much experience does the tutor have?

Can you build a personal relationship with this tutor?
