Mathnasium Of North OKC
About
We are your neighborhood math-only learning center that teaches kids math the way that makes sense to them. Our experienced math tutors utilize our proprietary teaching materials and techniques, The Mathnasium MethodTM, to deliver a customized learning plan designed to address each student's needs, whether they started out far behind or are already ahead in math. Our instruction approach goes beyond traditional math tutoring to develop understanding and build a love for math.
We love working with kids and helping them understand our world of math. We love seeing their eyes light up when they understand. We love the conversations we have with kids about math.
When we meet the child where they are at, we can take them to where they want to go. It's so rewarding to know that we have helped so many families. We love to hear that our students and their parents don't fight over homework anymore.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start with an assessment to understand what concepts our student have mastered and where are the gaps that needs to be addressed.
We then create a learning plan personalized to each student. Students then attend our centers 2-3 times per week working with our trained instructors.
We do not send extra homework home with students. In addition to helping them get caught up or getting ahead, we help our students with their school homework. We also stay in communication with teachers to know what's coming up, if there are quizzes and tests so we can best help our students prepare.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Prior to becoming owner and center director of Mathnasium of North OKC and South OKC, I was a systems analyst for 15 years. I opened Mathnasium since 2012.
I and all of our instructors are trained in the Mathnasium Method, where we make math make sense. All of our instructors are well versed in math and are passionate about helping kids. They are patient and fun to work with.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our monthly membership is $280 with 2-3 sessions per week. No appointments are required. You can drop in anytime during our instruction hours, Monday - Thursday 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturday 11:00 - 3:00 pm.
How did you get started teaching?
As a systems analyst, I perform most of my work at night which afforded me the time to volunteer during the day at my children's school. In the eight years that I volunteered, I taught math in small group of 6 to 8 students. I came to understand that most kids don't hate math. They just don't understand it... yet.
I opened Mathnasium in 2012 after searching for a solution to help our kids and our community. I want to make sure that our kids are not limited in their choices in life because they lack math foundation. We can fix it. We can give them opportunity.
Mathnasium have a 40 year history of helping kids and their families all over the world. I am very proud and honored to be a Mathnasium owner and being part of the movement to help our children truly understand math and love math again.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with students from 1st grade through 12th grade.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have many fond moments with our students. I love hearing them argue their points. I love that our students have become critical thinkers and stand firm on their answers. We have discussions with our kids about math. It's not just a one way communication. We don't just tell them what to do but we talk about why it works and the light bulb moments are just amazing even after 7 years of teaching, I love it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that cares about you and your future success not just today's homework. Ask if they have the resources to address gaps that you may have. Math is foundational. If you lack prerequisite skills, it will be difficult to master current or future concepts.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would encourage you to be open to learning rather than just wanting the answer to the question. You will be able to solve so many more problems even problems that you haven't seen before.
Learning in an investment in yourself.
