About

Seeing the "Ah-ha" moment in the students eyes is what really makes tutoring worth it. I tutored courses that I previously took while studying aerospace engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. I tutored for about a year for a previous professor. I did well in her courses, so she offered me a tutoring position, and I gladly took it. One of the best parts of the job was seeing my peers get the same feeling of accomplishment that I did a year prior.

He was so attentive to my needs and making sure I understood the material. He is super educated and knowledgeable, but makes things easy to understand! Totally would recommend for anyone!

Frequently asked questions

I typically like to know what particular topic we are going to be working on in the next session ahead of time, so that I can ensure I'm ready to give the best help possible. I'll introduce myself and then find out exactly what might be the struggle point for the student. I try to work out example problems and highlight key steps in the process. I can always switch up my tutoring style if examples are not how the student learns best. The student and I are partners in the learning experience, so it takes a little time to find out how we can help each other in the best way possible.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology. I currently have one course left in my Masters of Science in Astronautical and Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University. I have also worked for the Department of Defense as a civilian for two years as an aerospace engineer.

I tutored during my undergraduate degree for about a year. I volunteered to tutor Kindergartners for two summers, so I have worked with new and experinced learners.

If you are looking for a tutor within the engineering field, I would say you need to find someone who can be personal and communicate well. Engineers aren't particularly known for their social skills, but finding an expert who can communicate ideas well will benefit you and them well when tutoring.

I would say think about what exactly you need help with. It's hard as a tutor to help when we don't know what to help with. We are here because we want to help in the best way possible, so pointed questions are key.
