Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to set up an initial meeting with a potential client. Prior to our that meeting, I like to look at a student's writing sample so we can make an informed set of goals for our sessions. Then I like to meet with a student to discuss possible outcomes. We would then determine the ideal number of sessions (one time meeting, a set number of sessions, or weekly meetings for an entire semester).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching for 21 years. Throughout that time, I have honed my skills and have a large number of resources upon which to draw to help every student achieve writing success. I have received AP and IB training as well as training on sheltered instruction, guided inquiry, and Apple education.
I am currently a doctoral candidate in the history of education, and so I have experience in upper-level graduate writing and am versed in three major style sheets (APA, Chicago, and MLA).
