Monica's Math Tutoring
About
Hi there! I teach my students techniques that helped me be successful and get accepted into top colleges such as Duke University, the University of Cornell, and much more.
My past tutoring experience, leadership, and educational advancement are all reasons why I believe my tutoring services will help my students succeed.
I began tutoring 2 years ago. I taught marketing to a class size of over 20 students ranging from high school freshmen to high school seniors. Since then, I have tutored in other subjects.
On average, the students I have tutored have increased their test averages by at least ten points.
I am here to help my students grow and become successful in their studies. I live by the motto that a good tutor does not just teach their students the content, but enables them to excel when the tutor is not available!
Lastly, I am someone who is approachable and nice. Let's face it, math can be difficult, and it's important to have a person who a student can trust and ask questions to. I am that person! I believe that is the advantage of being a tutor for someone who is of a similar age group. I am able to make connections and bring in real-life examples that will best help my students succeed!
I enjoy being able to positively impact the lives of others. I gained this passion from a young age. My mother, a teacher, has always been a role model for me. She helped me realize the sense of joy a teacher receives when they make a change.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first start with evaluations. I try to understand where the student is. This usually involves looking at old tests, asking students what they know, looking at the resources provided to them by their school and home.
I then evaluate study habits. This is crucial for math success. I teach the student how to approach each math question and do so efficiently.
Lastly, I use hands-on learning to craft lesson plans that help the student excel.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have always had a passion for math. At the age of 16, I started taking college math courses at the University of Oklahoma. By the age of 17, I was taking Calculus 4. In all my math classes in high school and college, I have always been at the top of my class.
