About
Many larger tutoring groups focus on completing course work and improving test scores. However, students are often only seen as an appointment in these cases. As an individual, I can provide more personalized and meaningful study plans. I take it upon myself to learn interests and hobbies of students I work with which allows me to explain complex and frustrating topics in more digestiable and individualized ways. My hope is that this can not only allow students to understand subjects more clearly but also provide an overall more fun experience. The ultimate goal, as should be any tutor's, is to teach study habbits that they can apply in any class they find themselves in. Not only do I provide guidance in their coursework, but I also reveal many of my study habbits that allowed me to graduate at the top of my class at Oklahoma Baptist University.
My goal has always been investing in students lives academically as well as personally. I relish in watching as students grow into more competent and succesful people. One of my fondest memories comes from my first year as a tutor. I worked primarily on chemistry with this student; a subject he was quite unfamilar with. He did not start out on the best foot in the class and sought my aid. As we worked together, he began to make serious progress as I learned more about his personal life and he, mine. He began performing significantly better on his tests and homework and I would often find him helping his classmates with their coursework as well. He improved so much, he was offered as position as my collegue at the tutoring center. He became not only a well of knoweldge but one of my good friends.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I believe it prudent for a mentor and their students to learn about each other. As such, the first time meeting a new student will almost always include a period of becoming aquatinted to each other. This will not only allow you to become more comfortable, as tutoring can be a daunting event, but it will allow me to understand anectodal events that will lead to a more personal and, thus, impactful learning. After relaxing and becoming more familiar with each other, we will proceed with the lessons plan and/or homework that is to be understood.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have graduated Summa Cum Laude (Highest distinction) from Oklahoma Baptist University with a Bachelor in Science while studying Biochemistry. During my time at OBU, I was a mentor at the tutoring center on campus. I was also given the opportunity to play and start on OBU Men's varsity soccer team for 4 years while I studied to obtain my degree. From all the experiences I have learned to work with individuals from various cultures and backgrounds.
