About
My passion is teaching! This is my 11th year in the classroom. I have taught 7th-12th grade. My specialties are 7th/8th grade math, Algebra I, Algebra II, and my personal favorite: Geometry. I have a natural ability to explain math in a way that helps students understand it. Students have been known to come back to ask me questions well after I've had them in class. I have the ability and experience to teach virtually but can also meet in person.
Due to my education and experience, my rate is $40 an hour for an hour long virtual session and $50 an hour for an in-person session.
I have my Master's Degree in Mathematics Curriculum and Instruction although I don't see myself ever wanting to leave the actual classroom to use it. Every day is different and such a joy. I'm very lucky that I can say that I love my job! I want to help others realize their full potential and to learn that math doesn't have to be so scary.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin by trying to discern what they already know so that I can build off of that foundation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors Degree in 7-12 Mathematics Education as well as a Masters in Mathematics Curriculum and Instruction. This is my 10th year of teaching in the classroom. My areas of expertise are Middle School Math, Algebra 1, and Geometry.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I need more info on the services requested. I will give a quote upon request.
We can meet on a regular basis. Either every week or every other week. My goal though is to have the student reach a point where I'm no longer needed on a weekly basis.
How did you get started teaching?
I've ALWAYS dreamed of being a teacher. I started in college as a 4-9 Math and Science major before switching to 7-12.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've taught a large variety of students over the years. I usually have at least 65 students a year from grades 7th to 12th. I have taught students of many different abilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We recently just finished Spirit Week at school. So for one of the days I had to wear my PJ's to school in front of 65+ teenagers! You may reference the picture I shared.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Teaching a concept is often one of the best ways to learn it. Find out if your tutor has experience teaching in that area.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should write down any questions that they have or don't understand before meeting with a teacher for help. Also write down your goals for the session. It is usually easier to do this ahead of time than when the teacher/tutor is putting you on the spot.
