Math Tutoring With Christina Adamson
About
My mission as an educator is to create a supportive and stress-free space where math can finally make sense. As a licensed Ohio 7-12 educator with dual Bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Education, I understand exactly where students get stuck and how to help them navigate it. I have spent 10 years guiding classroom students through Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus, and I bring that same structural expertise to tutoring fifth and sixth-grade math, Geometry, and College Algebra. Additionally, I provide targeted test preparation for the ACT and high school placement tests, helping students decode how these exams are structured while providing them with proven test-taking strategies.
Because math is rarely one-size-fits-all, my tutoring approach focuses heavily on real-time, interactive problem-solving rather than passive lecturing. I prefer to have students work out problems actively on whiteboards, talking through their mathematical thinking aloud as they write. This collaborative back-and-forth allows me to see exactly where a misunderstanding begins. If a student hits a roadblock on a problem, we can immediately hone in on that specific skill gap, using visual breakdowns and color-coding to talk through the concept until they gain mastery and can return to the larger problem with confidence.
To ensure sessions are highly engaging and mathematically sound, I seamlessly integrate technology into our lessons. I am fully comfortable using tools such as Desmos and TI graphing calculators, showing students how these tools can best support them alongside their learning. By combining these digital tools with a highly patient, adaptive teaching style, I explain problems from multiple angles until we find the exact strategy that clicks for the student. Ultimately, I design every session to transition students from passive observers into active drivers of their own learning, while building true mathematical confidence and independence.
