About this tutor

I have always had a passion and love working with children, which is why I got into education.

Having struggled with English myself in middle school, I know what it's like to need help, but struggle to ask for it. I am able to understand and relate to students therefore allowing me to connect with students. I am able to connect with my students, therefore allowing me to better help my students.

I am TESOL/TEFEL certified, allowing me to better teach the English language.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I first want to get to know my student, to build a foundation of trust and respect. When I get to know my student I can then incorporate materials that he/she likes into our lessons so that they are more engaged and interested.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

This Fall I will be entering my fourth year of college where I am obtaining my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.

As of May I am certified in TESOL/TEFL.

I have experience in teaching ages between the ages of five and twelve in a non-classroom environment. I have also worked in a preschool for a year where I worked with kids between the ages of two and half through five.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My standard pricing is $30.00 per hour.

How did you get started teaching?

In 2014 I started to help out my karate instructor teach the kids class and I realized how much I loved and enjoyed it. I knew I have always loved working with kids, but I never knew how much I loved and enjoyed teaching them until I started to teach karate.

While I was in high school I had the oppertunity to shadow at a school from grade levels pre-K through fifth, and was able to shadow the math and english specialist. Through this shadowing oppertunity I knew teaching was for me and since then I have been on the teaching path.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with children as young as one month to children as old as the age of twelve. In that mixture I have worked with children with ADHD/ADD and children who are autistic.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

There was recently an aerospace event where the Young Eagles are at. The Young Eagles provide a free thirty minute plane ride to children between the ages of eight and seventeen. I am usually thee head volunteer of the event but was not able to attend, though I was still a part of it.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Allow your teacher to ask you the ice-breaker questions so that your teacher can get to know you better. It may seem silly, but when you build that base foundation it is truly beneficial.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Will you be patient enough to work with me when I don't understand something?

Will you get impatient when I continue not to understand something?
