Multisensory Reading Instruction
About
Trained in both the Wilson Reading System and IMSE's approach to Orton Gillingham, I use multi-sensory techniques to directly and explicitly teach reading, writing and spelling skills. Through a hands-on, engaged learning practice, I have been able to move students with documented learning disabilities in reading to performing on grade level. I have a bachelors degree in Special Education from Xavier University in Special Education. I have been teaching in Cleveland for the past 8 years and I am excited to begin my masters degree in Reading Specialization in the fall of 2018. I am passionate about teaching reading and finding fun ways to engage young learners.
Building relationships with my students and watching them grow their knowledge is my favorite part of what I do. There is nothing more valuable than watching a child easily do the thing that was previously very challenging.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have a few informal assessments that I like to complete in order to gain baseline data and information about a student's current knowledge base. From there, I design lessons based on the gaps in knowledge.
