I also keep in contact with many of my past students. I sincerely love teaching and helping students find their voice. My evaluations were always amongst the highest in my department. I believe it is important for every writer to know how important it is tell a story.

Frequently asked questions

I take the time to make sure a student knows I am there to help. We discuss our strengths and our weaknesses, since they are equally important. It is important to establish a foundation based on kindness, rapport, trust and mutual respect so that a solid education can begin.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in English from Muskingum University and my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from West Virginia University. I taught composition, literature, poetry and creative writing for 10 years at universities in the United States. I also spent one year teaching English as a Second Language in South Korea. We focused on test prep, speaking skills, and reading.

While I am willing to negotiate, I generally charge $25 an hour.

I started teaching when I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant getting my master's degree at West Virginia University. I taught two sections of composition each semester, and I instantly loved it. I loved helping students craft their stories and seeing them grow into confident, successful writers.

I have worked with every type of student imaginable. My youngest student was 6. My oldest was 84. I have worked with students from all over the world, including Egypt, Nepal, South Korea, Japan, China. I have worked with students who have been out of school for twenty years. I welcome all my students, and believe all of us have the power to better ourselves through education.

One of my students chose me as a teacher who had a valuable impact on him. As a result, I got to be honored at his basketball game.

Trust that I will help you. Education is a lifelong process, and together we are able to accomplish so much. English can be such a tricky subject to navigate, but I have years of experience, and I have helped hundreds of students feel good about their writing. I can help you as well.

Students should think about how a tutor can best help them. It is okay to be uprfront about what you don't know.
