Math And More Tutoring
About
I am a math instruction specialist for elementary and middle school math. I have the ability to help children understand math with unique and varying approaches, that fit the child's learning style along with positivey and fun. I can also help with any other subject as needed.
I love helping children realize that not only are they not "bad" at math, but they can be highly successful with it. There is no better feeling for the child and myself than when "the light bulb comes on."

My process for working with a new student is to get to know the student and some things about his/her personality, as well as strengths and weaknesses. I then assess what content and skills need to be worked on.

I taught middle school math, science and social studies for 35 years for Columbus City Schools. I have a B.S. in Early and Middle Childhood Education as well as an M.A. in Middle School Mathematicics Teaching and Learning Practices. I have written math curriculum for Columbus Schools and helped conduct professional learning sessions for teachers of mathematics.
How did you get started teaching?

What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a very diverse group of students. I have worked with students of different races and with students from 25 different countries. Additionally, I have taught students with special needs, gifted, multiple disabilities and typical learners.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event I am fond of is partipating in buying and taking gifts to two of my former middle school students who are graduating seniors of 2020. There are so many amazing students who have dealt with COVID 19 and the cancellation of their milestone events. It was such a pleasure to help bring them some joy and celebrate their graduation!
