Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to try and see what they understand, and build a deeper understanding using what they know and understand, to build an understanding for new concepts.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an Integrated Mathematics Education Major at Ohio University(Graduating with my bachelor's degree in Education on May 2, 2020). I have been tutoring people since I was in High School.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I'd like to have a base $40/hr, and if I travel to work with a student at their home, I will ask only $5 more an hour to help cover gas costs. But, my prices are negotiable.
How did you get started teaching?
I was in the top of my high school math class, and my teacher suggested that I stay after school to start tutoring seniors on the verge of failing.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have helped students from the ages of 10-23 with multiple levels of mathematics. I have helped students who just needed support/ someone to check up on their answers, to students that have needed a lot of extra help understanding mathematical concepts.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say to try and find an instructor that teaches in a way you understand. Find someone willing to help you actually learn the material, and find someone focused on you.
