Foundation Math & Physics

Foundation Math & Physics is built on a simple idea: most students don't struggle with calculus or physics because they're "bad at math" — they struggle because a foundation somewhere underneath is shaky. My job is to find that gap and rebuild it, so the hard material stops feeling like memorization and starts making sense.

I bring more than ten years of tutoring experience alongside a research career in mathematics. I earned my PhD at Ohio State University, working in the analysis group on problems connecting divergent series, complex analysis, and applied computation, and I completed a postdoctoral appointment at OSU in scientific computing. Along the way I served as a teaching associate at both OSU and New York University, where I taught and supported the full calculus sequence and worked directly with hundreds of undergraduates.

Before graduate school, I served as a nuclear-trained officer aboard a U.S. Navy submarine — a program known for demanding genuine mastery of physics, thermodynamics, and reactor engineering under pressure. That experience shapes how I teach: precision matters, understanding beats shortcuts, and there's always a way to make a hard concept click.

I work with high school and college students across algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, the full calculus sequence, differential equations, linear algebra, and physics. Beyond these, I'm comfortable tutoring any undergraduate mathematics or physics course and many at the graduate level.
