What is your typical process for working with a new student?
New students are met with for a free "getting acquainted" consultation. On the first lesson, new students are given a level check assessment with our on copyrighted material. From the student's goal sheet, we customize their training to help them meet their goal.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Education- Graduate Degree from Ohio Dominican University
Education courses from Grand Canyon University (in progress)
Training- Intensive Pedagogical Training Institute, Ohio's Department of Education
Experience- More than ten years of experience teaching college students, business professionals, working adults, and at the 7-12 public school level.
How did you get started teaching?
Selected to participate in the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET). The process is highly competitive with applications being reviewed at area Japan Consulates and panel interviews comprising of alumni, area professors, and consulate employees.
What types of students have you worked with?
Students from all over the world; mainly expatriates from Japan sent to Ohio to support Honda or Honda's suppliers. Students range from children to adult.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Many people in this profession are tutoring for the moment and as soon as the opportunity which they are seeking comes, they will be gone. Make sure that your tutor will be around to see your goals long term.
