I work from the premise that it is my responsibility to get you from where you are to where you need to be. The more you work, the more I can work for you, at no additional charge.

I felt like Derek was very responsive to my personal needs and inquiries. He had an excellent grasp of the course material and was able to convey the material in a manner that was much easier to comprehend than when reading it by myself or after having read the assignment and covering it during lecture in class.

    Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, I like to assess three crucial areas: 1) skill level of assigned course work; 2) skill level possessed by student in area of assigned course work; 3) motivational level of student to make course work easier to perform and complete. Then I try to learn the two most important facts, what does the student desire or hope.to accomplish from our tutoring interactions and what does the student find interesting and/or meaningful? Once I have these facts I try to envision if, and how, this thing(s) can be linked into our assigned course work in order to stimulate research, increase effort spent in completing tasks and, most importantly, to create for the student a genuine knowledge of a particular theory, operation or process that can be performed repeatedly in new situations or contexts, not simply used once and forgotten or remembered long enough to pass a test.

My background is in advanced literature, reading and writing about what I have read and contemporary sociology and the statistical methodology used for the social sciences.

My last consulting assignment was to assisting organizations to obtain Cannabis Sativa-L or Hemp cultivation licensing, as well as licensing to process the hemp into crystal CBD isolate. I have, also, performed the same services for clients seeking to obtain medical cannabis cultivation licensing.

The reading of the various laws and ordinances is the necessary staring point before beginning the license application submission process for hemp or thc producing cannabis.  Acquiring the licenses is usually a long painstaking task; but, harder still is keeping them, which requires extremely timely and error-free documentation once licenses are attained.

It is of utmost importance that data collection, data analysis, data input and project reporting are checked, double-checked and triple checked. Modeling data is always beneficial in this regard, because once data has been collected and recorded, the number of input units provide a reasonable idea of what the number of output units should be in each area based upon years of data and the historical averages in terms of percent (i.e. stalk waste, stem waste, root ball waste, manicure water leaf waste, trim for sale, keif for sale, bud for sale, water evaporation etc). If your final numbers are not close to your model percentages, it is a clue for you that there are errors in data correlation, data entry, formula construction in cells or between relational databases.

My standard pricing ranges between $20.00 to $40.00 per session.  The longer the session, the lower the hourly rate. The more sessions per week, the lower the hourly rate. For example to prepare and tutor a one hour Classical Literature course is approximately $40.00. It could be less if the student and I are meeting twice a week and if the classics are not spread across time and continent. For example a World Literature course where the readings are Ibsen's "A Doll's House," Goethe's Faustus I or II, Voltaire's "Candide, Dante's Inferno and Boccaccio's "Decameron," would be more than an Early English Literature course with Beowulf and the Canterbury Tales or a Greek Classics course with Sophacles' Electra and his three Theban plays Antigone, Oedipus at Colonus and Oedipus Rex. These are all accepted parts of the Canon in those particular genres and the Western Classical Canon itself and do not command the breadth of the former World Syllabus that I presented. With the contemporary World Canon expanded to include Nawal El-Saadawi, Ngugi Wa Thiongo, Chinua Achebe, Kobo Abe, Yukio Mishima and Toni Morrison among others preparation time for these courses can be equivalent to basically reading the text for the first time. In addition, if the student were to meet twice a week for an hour the price would be closer to $30.00. And if the meetings lasted 90 minutes then $25.00 an hour would be closer to hourly pricing. The per hour discount with number of meetings and scheduled meeting lengths simply serves to.underwrite the time necessary to prepare adequately when a tutor is not using the same text for various students 3 and 4 times daily. Finally, I make myself available to edit, proofread guide and answer questions to my students outside of the regularly scheduled meeting window. I feel that with such limited contact it is essential that I be able to answer short and or longer but well directed questions that could be hindering a student from proceeding further that week.

I was looking to augment my own education and considering an MBA degree. However, a business acquaintance suggested that I pursue an advanced research methods degree. He knew my work and was always impressed by my statistical modeling, especially my using the correct formula for the analysis at hand. I began to search for graduate schools that emphasized advanced research methods as their Blue Ribbon offering and therebqas none. I contacted the McGregor School at Antioch and was informed.that I could build my program to suit with their staff and guidance. After I started my degree program to obtain an interdisciplinary Masters with a qualitative methodological thesis conjoining contemporary literature to contemporary social and political thought. In addition, I produced two published quantitative studies and began assisting other students and some faculty in constructing their research paradigms. I , also, helped pay for my graduate course work with a teaching assistantship for two semesters when school was in regular session and a research assistantship the third semester during the summer break or accelerated semester. I would perform numerical computations on data that had been collected trying to discern any patterns or effects that were not being tested for in the primary calculations. I created a myriad of data display graphics (e.g. bar charts, pie charts, histograms, stack charts, decreasing probability vector panes. It was during this period that I knew I would enjoy teaching and that I would enjoy it more with classes of 15 students versus auditoriums of 100 students.
