Professional, Award-Winning Writer, Tutor To Disabled Boys, Collegiates
About
I've been published professionally several times, in the Human Life Review, First Things (which are academic journals), and 15 times in Little Old Lady Comedy.
I've tutored at CUNY Lehman College (where I graduated), and SUNY Purchase and Pace University. Essays were the main focus. My students improved their grades and a few received scholarships to grad schools.
I scored in the 93rd / 98th percentiles in the SAT's.
I know that writing is first about outlining, concision and rewriting and help my students handle this naturally.
I learned how to write by creating comic books in my youth. The end of every page would be the end of a paragraph in prose. My possession I could not live without is my word processor. I've written several essays for academic journals. I am working on hiring a professional artist to make a comic out of my LOL Comedy autobiographical essays.
I once worked as a supervisor of two autistic boys, 14. I loved working with them and they like me. So did the mother. I get along great with kids, and lots of people have told me so.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Find out what the student is looking for. Is he or she struggling or bored?
Writing should be a thrill for everyone.
In writing essays and stories, I have students write a series of sentence fragments. Then they prioritize each fragment and put them in order for dramatic effect.
I like students to read aloud to check their comprehension and vocal reflection.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Here are some of my published articles.

I have a BA in Political Science with a minor in Creative Writing. I am well-versed in politics having read many political books by Ann Coulter, Dinnesh D'Souza, Mark Levin, Dennis Prager, Ben Shapiro, Glenn Beck, David Horowitz, James O'Keefe, Professor William Brennan, Randy Alcorn and Jack Willke.
I have published numerous essays in academic journals, local papers and the internet. I was awarded three writing awards in college. Most of my writing involves teaching the reader. I prefer working with kids. I've been told I am patient, especially for a man.
I have tutored English at Pace University, SUNY Purchase College and Lehman College. Also worked with autistic children for over a year and it went great. I had a job teaching kids Dungeons and Dragons. I am writing a humorous, autobiographical comic book. On the SAT's, I scored in the 93rd percentile in the verbal sectioin and the 98th percentile in math; my final score was 1350. My IQ is 135 IQ.
I also have seven years of amateur acting experience. I can be funny. I have taken down the house. Humor helps break the ice with kids. Understanding characters in acting helps understand them in books and vice versa.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
To be discussed.
How did you get started teaching?
As a child, I helped my younger sister read. In high school, I was paid to teach young kids D&D, which taught me as well. In college I learned to teach young adults. I was the liason between the professors and students. Today I teach my girlfriend politics, reading and D&D. She loves them all.
What types of students have you worked with?
Primarily boys and college students. I would like to challenge myself with new groups of people.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Having people read my work and like it. I usually get positive feedback. My favorite movies are dramas, as I like the conflict between characters. I think dramas are the shows most akin to books.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Articulate why it is you want a teacher. Do you like the subject or not? Do you find reading or writing boring or hard? Look for someone who enjoys teaching and has experience with it.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If you don't like to read, what movies and TV shows do you like? Are you prepared to write a review of them, or to write your own story in that style? Woud you like to write a story about sports? Video games? Your relatives? A letter of advice to your younger self? A dream of yourself in the future?
