Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to start right away! Before I meet with a student (although it does vary) I like to get a copy of a syllabus, assignment and or list of goals that they have so that I am able to to fully be aware of their class's, families and own expectations. It allows me to familiarize myself with the task at hand and thus prepare for our in person or skype/phone sessions. I also like to start of asking some questions about their learning styles, interests and hobbies so as to understand how to best appeal, translate and relay information to them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a high school diploma from the Ethical Culture Fieldston School and a BA degree from Connecticut College in Art History and Museum Studies.
How did you get started teaching?
In the increasingly polarized political climate we live in today, I feel an urgent call to work in such a way that supports fundamental human needs and interests. Being a teacher allows me to focus on using history, english and other disciplines to educate and inspire my community around me.
