Understandable Math With Multiple Approaches...
About
We use multiple approaches to convey the relavant information to cater to students diverse learning styles. Concepts are taught from an Algebraic, Graphical and Numerical perspective and we use tangible analogies to help elucidate complicated concepts. I am passionate about helping others understand and not be intimidated by mathematics. I love especially to give the student confidence when learning mathematics and in their academic prowess in general. It is truly the best reward. I have been told my whole life I am great explaing things simply. I try to tutor by the maxim "Knowledge of a few principles can replace knowledge of many facts", and in the spirit of this really try to hammer home the concepts. I have a B.S. in Computer Science from SUNY Polyand worked for years as a Software Engineer for the DOD. When in college for every elective I opted to take a mathematics course and by the time I graduated I had taken every math course there save 4 and aced them all. I am not a usual learner and thus have had to overcome the often 1 dimensional way I was taught to understand mathematics which I have by approaching each topic from multiple angles and focusing on the Graphical, Numerical or Analytical approach whenever explanation of the concept warranted it. In addition I am also very articulate and have excellent communication skills and have worked with students of all ages.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student I like to question the student to ascertain their skill level and current understanding of the target concepts. I also like to get to know the student by getting a little background to see what their interests and likes are. I have found that when I can pair mathematics with the students interests understanding comes easier. I am also trying during this brief period to reveal the students preferrable learning style and which approach would be best suited for this students learning style. I then on my free time I develop a personal learning plan for the student with their interests and learning style in mind and enumerate achieveable learning goals for the student. After I get to know the student and get a feel for how they best learn I use that in the future with minor tweaks based on how things progress.
