I have worked as an ELA teacher for 4 years now, however I have been teaching my whole life. I am from Buffalo, New York, but I have taught in Dunkirk, New York and currently reside and teach in Syracuse, New York. I am a NYS certified ELA teachers, grades 7-12. I work primarily with middle school students, but I have taught high school students and have also tutored 1st-2nd grade students in literacy.
My job is to help your student achieve their goals through reading, writing, and speaking. No matter the task, I can help students utilize what they learn in ELA class to accomplish it!
I love being able to help students achieve the goals they set for themselves.I appreciate getting to know my students so that I understand their learning style and know what exactly they need help with. I am good at highlighting students' unique voices and opinions while demonstrating the conventions of English reading and writing.

Make sure you are hiring a tutor or teacher who values your voice and works to make sure your voice and ideas are what you are working to highlight and expand on, not their own! There is no one correct way to analyze a text or write an essay, so your tutor/teacher should be personalizing your learning to meet you where you are, not giving you a cookie-cutter way to respond to texts and writing prompts.
What is your goal? What are you hoping to achieve? Where are you struggling? What kind of learner are you?
