About
Hello!
I've been a teacher most of my adult life. I homeschooled both of my children (a son and a daughter) through high school and they both have high school diplomas. Since they were 8 years apart in age, I taught for 20 years. Because schools have been closed due to COVID - 19, I've continued to tutor 3 grandchildren ranging in age from 7 to 15.
My past job history also includes teaching juvenile and developmentally disabled children.
I am dedicated to children, during our current widespread school shutdowns, who need the support offered by this platform. Patience and consistency are the mainstays of my approach.
I'd like to assist your child in keeping pace with, or surpassing, their potential in these changing times.

The joys of teaching for me are the student's spontaneous "light bulb" moments and their feelings of success!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to make casual contact in the beginning and keep the communication relaxed and comfortable. By asking a few questions, the student reveals their learning strengths and weaknesses. A student may not realize their preferred mode of learning, whether it's auditory, visual, kinesthetic, or a combination of these. Ultimately, any or all of the learning modes can be incorporated and utilized in a comprehensive, fun educational relationship.
