What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I am a proponent for tailoring instruction and tutoring to each student's individual learning style. My first step is discussing what types of instruction have been helpful and what types have been challenging. I am very capable of implementing instruction techniques for many different learning styles. Once I have a sense of how a particular student learns, I find it helpful to establish a routine with students and provide opportunities to remain engaged with the material outside of tutoring sessions.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Binghamton University with a bachelor's in biological science and minor in gender studies.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My base rate is $25/half hour. Pricing is flexible (reduced hourly rate for longer sessions) and depends on the subject and length of sessions.

How did you get started teaching?

I began teaching health to middle and high school classes through a program with Planned Parenthood in 2016.

I currently tutor students of all ages in biology, chemistry, physics, test prep, and more!

I also teach group fitness and private training sessions for teens, young adults, and older adults.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with students from elementary school to adulthood.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Students should think about what they want from their tutor! What has worked for you in the past and what has not when it comes to education and learning. Your tutors are there to help you learn, so it is important to think about what you need from them to best accomplish that.

With many schools operating partially or entirely online, many of the answers to these questions may have changed. What components of your education will be missing due to this change? How can I, as your tutor, help fill in some of those gaps?
