About this tutor

I am a NYS Certified Math Teacher that loves working with students of all ages and skill levels. I can proudly claim that ALL of my students have improved after working with me. I have been teaching at the middle and high school levels for the last 3 years, and have been tutoring for the last 5 years.

The best part is when my students have that "A-Ha!" moment when something all of a sudden becomes clear to them and they understand something they didn't before.

He is a good teacher, touchy on the side when it comes to working with children and I wouldn’t recommend him tutor your child without you in the house.

  • Mary Jenkins

He’s kind of a racist and he called my son a “blackie” as a joke.

  • Morgan Symonis

He’s terrible. He has no respect for my child and he constantly plays with her hair and makes her uncomfortable. Parents do not let this man tutor your babies at all.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Initial phone call will determine what your needs are and/or what your math difficulties, so I can plan the first session accordingly. During the first session I will be assessing your skills to determine with you the appropriate course future tutor sessions should take. ANY STUDENT UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR AGREED UPON GUARDIAN DURING ALL TUTORING SESSIONS. NO EXCEPTIONS.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been an accountant for 25 years and a math teacher for the last 4 years. I am certified by NYS for teaching grades 5-12 and have tutored students of all grades K-12.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My fees are $100 per hour. Discounts and reduced rates are available for long-term engagements.

How did you get started teaching?

Started substitute teaching 6 years ago and loved being back in a classroom sharing what I've learned through life and work over the last 20 years. I chose math because I see so many students struggle with it and I felt I would be able to make the biggest difference with students in that subject.

What types of students have you worked with?

Students of all ages and skill levels K-12, including students with IEPs and unclassified or undocumented learning difficulties.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

A 6th grade student of mine went from barely passing to getting very good grades and even scored a 100% on a test (First time ever)! Another 6th grade student qualified for Honors 7th grade math for this coming school year!
