About
I am a certified public school teacher and have worked in public schools for the past 9 years.
I have a BA in Fine Arts from Fordham University and a Masters in Education from Notre Dame of Maryland University.
During my time teaching I have worked with students from Pre-K to adults.
My main educational focus has been English language education and literacy intervention.
I have worked with high school students on college essay writing and application completion. I have also tutored students in preparation for the SAT/PSAT and Regents exams in English, Math, Science and Social Studies.
I have worked with elementary and middle school students to bring them up to grade level in both reading and mathematics with a focus on early interventions.
I have worked with many special education students and am very familiar with IEP’s, 504’s and BIP’s.
I am currently on a leave of absence as a general educator in order to spend my days at home with my young children.
I offer afternoon and weekend tutoring as well as through Skype. I may be expanding my daytime availability after July 1st.
I have a passion for education and believe all people can succeed in their educational goals given the proper guidance and support.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I teach a variety of content areas and ages so it is different for each.
Adult Learners - We will discuss your goals and needs. I will evaluate any work samples you may have and help figure out where your week areas are.
SAT Preparation - I will have you take a practice test before we meet for the first time and we will look at the test to see where strengths and weaknesses are. We will also work together to create a study plan that can be maintained outside of tutoring.
Regents Test Preparation - I will have you take a practice test before we meet for the first time and we will look at the test to see where strengths and weaknesses are. We will also look at old test scores and work samples to see if there are specific topics that have been a problem all year. We will also work together to create a study plan that can be maintained outside of tutoring.
High School Course Tutoring including Regents classes - For full year help I will first need to see tests and work samples from class. We will focus on weak areas. I will help teach note taking skills and time management.
Elementary/Middle School Tutoring - I meet with parents to discuss what is concerning them. I will evaluate work samples to look for weaknesses and strengths. I will also talk to the child to see where they feel they are struggling. As necessary and with permission I will reach out to their classroom teacher.
