About
Hello! I am a New York State-certified mathematics and special education teacher with more than 20 years of experience teaching in New York City public schools. I am still actively teaching, which allows me to stay current with curriculum standards, instructional strategies, and the challenges students face in today’s classrooms.
Throughout my career, I have worked with students from many different backgrounds and ability levels, including students who struggle significantly with math, have learning disabilities, lack confidence, or need concepts explained in a different way. My experience in both mathematics and special education has taught me that every student can improve when instruction is patient, clear, structured, and tailored to the way they learn best.
When working with me, students can expect a supportive and encouraging environment where they are comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I break difficult concepts into manageable steps, explain ideas in multiple ways, and focus on helping students truly understand the material rather than simply memorize procedures.
My goal is not only to help students improve their grades and test scores, but also to build their confidence and help them become more independent learners. Whether a student needs help catching up, completing homework, preparing for an exam, or advancing beyond the classroom curriculum, I will create lessons that meet their individual needs.
With more than two decades of classroom and tutoring experience, dual certification in mathematics and special education, and a strong understanding of how to support struggling learners, I am confident that I can help students make meaningful academic progress and develop a stronger, more positive relationship with mathematics.
