WNY Dyslexia Specialists LLC
About
We are not average reading tutors. We are dyslexia specialists who are trained to offer specific programs to help students of all ages be successful in reading, writing, and spelling.
Bright children and adults who struggle with reading, spelling, and writing could be suffering with dyslexia. It is very puzzling to parents because these individuals are often very artistic, athletic, and creative young people.
Our job is to close the student's reading gap, boost their confidence, and accentuate their strengths.
We see reading confidence grow within a short time as our students are finally being taught in a way that makes sense to the way their brains process letter sounds. We share our students' successes as they move from struggling readers to reading super stars.

How did you get started teaching?
I knew in 10th grade I wanted to be a teacher. I focused my college applications on teacher training colleges in NYS. I enjoyed all my interations in the classroom from my internship to my student teaching.
I was blessed to be hired after college to teach 6,7,and 8th grade ELA at Sacred Heart School in Niagara Falls, NY. My first year in the classroom presented many unique learning opportunities. During my 4 years at Sacred Heart, I completed my Master's Degree in Elementary Education with Reading and obtained a second certification in 7-12 Social Studies.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with students who are struggling readers. Most of our students have been struggling with reading since kindergarten. Reading is not "natural" for our students and today's classroom instruction is not beneficial for them. Our students are dyslexic or fit the dyslexia profile. Our student need intensive, one-on-one instruction at least twice a week to make substantial progress in reading.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are struggling to read, it's never too late. There is no such thing as being too old to learn to read. We work with adults as well as children. Give us a call because we can help you to learn to read. No one is out of reach or "unteachable". We don't believe in that.
